Frequently Asked Questions

Scheduling & Season When do you open for outdoor swim lessons? Outdoor swim lessons are completely weather-dependent (as all South Shore parents know!). I look for consistent daytime temperatures of at least 65°F before starting. I’m hopeful that puts us around mid-May, but Mother Nature has the final say. When do you close for outdoor swim lessons? We wrap up based on weather as well. If we get a nice stretch of warm early fall days, I’m hoping to offer a short mini session into the first or second week of October. Do you offer year-round swim lessons? I’m currently “testing the waters” and working on securing indoor pool space at Percy Walker Pool in Duxbury. Availability is very limited right now, mostly on weeknights and weekends. I’m also exploring adding weekday preschool and adaptive lessons during the school year—so more to come! How early should I sign up? As early as you can! Summer schedules book quickly—especially once camps, beach days, and vacations start filling in. Signing up early gives you the best chance at getting a time that works for your family.

Lessons & What to Expect What ages do you teach? I work with a range of ages, typically starting with young children through elementary-aged swimmers. If you’re not sure if your child is ready, feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to chat it through. What skill levels do you teach? Everything from first-time water introductions to kids working on stroke technique and confidence. I meet each swimmer where they are and help them build skills step-by-step. Are lessons private or group-based? I offer both private and small group lessons. Groups are intentionally kept small so each child gets lots of individual attention (and confidence-building time!). Where are lessons held? Outdoor lessons take place at my home pool. Once you’re registered, I’ll send all the details you need. Indoor lessons (when available) will be held at Percy Walker Pool in Duxbury. How long are lessons? Most lessons run between 25–40 minutes, depending on the age and type of class. I keep things moving so kids stay engaged (and don’t get too chilly!). What should my child bring? • Swimsuit • Towel • Goggles (if they like them) • Water bottle For little ones, a swim diaper and dry clothes are always a good idea too. For preschool classes, do parents/guardians get in the water? No, I don’t have parents or guardians join in the water during lessons. However, for safety, I do require that a parent or guardian stay on the pool deck for the entire lesson. This helps your child feel supported while also allowing them to build independence in the water. Do parents need to stay during lessons? Yes! I ask that a parent or caregiver stay on-site during all lessons. It helps kids feel more comfortable and keeps everything running safely and smoothly.

Weather & Make-Ups What happens if there is bad weather? If it’s too cold, raining steadily, or there’s any thunder/lightning, lessons will be canceled—safety always comes first. Weather-related cancellations will be made up on Fridays at your regularly scheduled lesson time. I know schedules can be tight, so I’ll always communicate any changes as early as possible. What if we have to miss a lesson? I completely understand how busy summer gets around here—between vacations, camps, and family plans! If you’re able to give me prior notice, I will do my best to work with you to offer a make-up lesson when possible. While make-ups aren’t guaranteed, I truly try to be as flexible and accommodating as I can for my families.

Registration & Policies How do I register? Registration is done through my website. Once sessions open, you can choose your time slot and book directly online. What is your cancellation or refund policy? Because the season is short and spots are limited, I’m not able to offer refunds for missed lessons. If I need to cancel due to weather or another issue on my end, I will always do my best to offer a make-up lesson or credit. Why aren’t the credit card fees removed when I choose to pay in person? Short answer: My website platform (Wix) doesn’t currently allow me to automatically remove the fee. Long answer: This is a coding limitation on Wix’s side. If you choose to pay with cash, Venmo, or check, I will manually remove the credit card fee for you. My (very tech-savvy!) husband is working with Wix to find a fix, but it may take a little time.
